Happy January 15th 2016

The Positive National Holiday for today January 15th is National Humanitarian day

“The thinking man must oppose all cruel customs, no matter how deeply rooted in tradition and surrounded by a halo. When we have a choice, we must avoid bringing torment and injury into the life of another, even the lowliest creature; but to do so is to renounce our manhood and shoulder a guilt which nothing justifies.” ― Albert Schweitzer

Being a good Humanitarian requires cultural freedom, it means being loving and caring to all humans regardless of Race, Nationality, Beliefs, or Lifestyle. In the 21 century mankind has come up with more reasons to hate thy neighbor then to love thy neighbor to the extent that even the people we consider friends is dictated by a social protocol, directed by those who we associate with. We must break away from this way of thinking and be strong enough to make a decision based on right from wrong and not based on the approval of others. We need to be strong enough to speak up when something is wrong, unfair, or cruel to others.

Being indifferent is indeed the easiest thing to do but ask yourself this, when you see something wrong and do nothing does it actually make life any easier. The answer to that question is no. Just as governments have turned their backs on the poor citizens of their country just to see the problems the of homelessness and less fortunate grow until it affects their life style so shall we see the problems we ignore show up on our door steps if we don’t standup as one tribe and take care of each other.

Matthew 25:34-46 New Testament

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

The best kind of humanitarians are the one who do all that they can for those in need without being motivated by gain, without weighing the benefits, and without thinking about what they have to lose by doing so. It doesn’t take much to give. A piece of fruit to the hungry, a dollar to the poor, a pint of blood to the injured, or even a smile to the broken makes a big difference which is why every random acts of kindness goes a long way, not only to the heart of those who you’ve helped but also to the people they associate and interact with as well.
